STOPPED ME IN MY SCROLL

Every now and then an image appears in my feed that makes me stop scrolling and just savor the moment. That happened with a recent Instagram photo from Ariel Okin Interior Design Studio. The room felt instantly inviting—warm neutrals, layered patterns, textured fabrics and thoughtful furniture placement all working together to create such a relaxed, lived-in elegance.

I spent several minutes studying the photo to pinpoint what makes it so appealing. Is it the way the fabrics play off each other, the balance of warm and cool tones, the rhythm of the patterns? It’s likely all of those details combined. For anyone who appreciates layered, textural interiors, this is a beautiful example of modern, understated luxury done right.

OUTFIT INSPIRATION

On the fashion front, this week’s look centers on one of my favorite transitional tops: a breezy linen blouse. The lightweight fabric and relaxed silhouette make it feel like elegant loungewear—comfortable, breathable and perfectly suited for warm-weather days or layered with a light jacket indoors.

I particularly love tops with roll-up sleeves and a button tab. They’re practical for toggling between cool air-conditioned spaces and warmer outdoor temps while creating a casually polished look. I paired turquoise jewelry and a rattan bracelet to echo linen’s organic feel, and a touch of leopard print to pick up the warm brown tones in the accessories. Animal prints can be a subtle accent that ties an outfit together.

WHAT I’M WATCHING OR READING

TV and movie offerings lately haven’t had much that appeals to me—many new releases lean heavily on CGI or pervasive coarse language, so I often return to older films that feel comforting and well-crafted. With that in mind, I’ll occasionally spotlight a classic worth revisiting.

Recently we rewatched My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which delivers big laughs and warm family moments. If you need a feel-good pick-me-up, it’s an easy choice and a reminder of how funny and tender a well-written romantic comedy can be.

RECENT PURCHASE I LOVE

When guests stayed recently I refreshed the upstairs guest bedroom with new throw pillow covers that I absolutely love. They were an affordable update with surprisingly good fabric and craftsmanship. I used three 24×24 covers as Euro shams on a queen bed to add height and texture to the arrangement.

They come in a variety of colors and sizes, which made it simple to coordinate with existing bedding and decor. While they sold quickly and required a brief wait, the end result was worth it—simple, affordable, and stylish updates can make a guest room feel much more finished.

ON THE HOME FRONT

Thank you for the kind messages about my pinched nerve in the hip. I’ve been diligent with the stretches my doctor recommended, and I’m pleased to say they’re helping—slow, steady improvement each day. Staying consistent with physical therapy stretches has made a noticeable difference.

I’m also taking several online blogging courses right now. They’ve been enjoyable and challenging, stretching me beyond my comfort zone in productive ways. Because I’m dedicating many hours to learning and homework, my home decorating projects are quieter for the moment. The upside: my workspace sits by the breakfast room windows, so I can watch birds at the feeder and enjoy a little nature while I work.

One weekly highlight is taking my youngest granddaughter to horseback riding lessons. It’s a joyful break from screen time, and I’m so proud of how confident and capable she’s becoming. Those visits keep me grounded and remind me to balance work with the simple pleasures of family time.
