Celebrate Christmas in my cozy, festive family room decorated in rich reds and greens with just a touch of sparkle.

When I decorate for the holidays, I don’t just add a little here and there—I go all in. My family room is dressed for Christmas from corner to corner, creating a warm, joyful space perfect for gatherings and quiet winter evenings.
My tree is a cheerful mix of classic Christmas red and green, accented with luxurious silk ribbon. I used two complementary ribbon styles—the narrower checked ribbon and a wider striped ribbon—to give the tree a cohesive, casually elegant look. The ribbon provides movement and ties the ornaments together visually.

I carefully edited my ornament collection, keeping only pieces that matched this year’s red-and-green palette. Using different shades and finishes—glossy, satin, and textured—adds depth and interest across the tree.

Strategic pops of white are tucked throughout the branches to brighten the overall look and prevent the tree from feeling too heavy or dark.

Under the tree, presents are wrapped in coordinated red and white papers, with green ribbon accents on select packages to unify the color scheme and add festive detail.

The fireplace becomes an extension of the tree. I draped an affordable garland across the mantel and tucked in frosted red berry picks for texture and color. The wreath was simple to assemble: a couple of bows made from the checked ribbon and a few red ornaments tucked in for shine. Mixing shiny and satin red ornaments creates a rich, layered effect.

The standout pieces on the mantel are red mercury glass candlesticks. They were a bit of a splurge, but their reflective finish and rich color make them a focal point. I’m already planning ways to reuse them next season.

The sofa is layered with a mix of holiday pillows and cozy plaid flannels, creating a comfortable and inviting seating area perfect for relaxing with family or hosting guests.

A collection of tin houses sits on the sofa table behind the couch. They’re small and a bit tricky to photograph, but they add a charming, nostalgic touch to the vignette.

I kept the coffee table simple and seasonal: white candles arranged with faux greenery and red berries on a neutral, grain-sack style runner. The result is an elegant, low-maintenance centerpiece that complements the rest of the room.

On the console table I grouped a few more tin houses on vintage-style scales and placed a red truck atop a bed of artificial greenery to echo the ornaments and ribbon on the tree. A small stocking garland draped over the blanket ladder adds a playful finishing touch.

Thank you for taking a tour of my cozy, festive family room. I hope these ideas inspire your own Christmas decorating—whether you prefer classic red and green, touches of white for contrast, or a mix of textures and finishes for a lived-in holiday look.
