Weekly Muse Issue 14: News & Creative Insights

Welcome to the 14th edition of The Weekly Muse! The weekend is finally here, and I’m excited to share a few highlights from my week—simple pleasures, seasonal inspiration, and a couple of personal notes. From a favorite view in my kitchen to some of the most beautiful fall wreaths I’ve seen, there’s a lot to enjoy as we ease into autumn.

My week at a glance

I spend many hours at my computer each day, and I deliberately set up my little office at the kitchen table so I can enjoy the view outside. Having a bright, cheerful workspace where I can watch the birds and notice the changing light makes daily tasks feel lighter and more pleasant.

Right now, this is my view from one of the windows. On sunny mornings the light pours in and the garden feels immediately welcoming. If you look closely, you might spot a tiny visitor at the hummingbird feeder—those little birds always brighten my day. I’ll miss them when they migrate south for the winter; until then, I savor every visit.

On a less pleasant note, here’s a friendly warning from experience: don’t hit your ribs when you fall. I managed to stumble and landed against the edge of a dining chair the other day—ouch. Fortunately nothing is broken, but the ache is a clear reminder to take care and slow down when I’m rushing around the house. It’s one of those small misadventures that nudges you to be a little more mindful.

On my wishlist

I’m already collecting ideas for fall decor, and a few items have caught my eye. Flameless candles are top of the list—their soft flicker adds instant warmth and seasonal ambiance without the worry of an open flame. They’re perfect for cozy vignettes on mantels, dining tables, or layered with other autumn accessories.

I’ve also been admiring a pair of lamps that look high-end but won’t break the bank. Good lighting can transform a room—soft task lighting at a side table or a statement lamp in the entryway instantly elevates the space and complements autumn decor like woven throws and seasonal accents.

Fabulous inspiration

I came across a stunning duo of fall wreaths that stopped me in my tracks. The color combination is fresh and unexpected for autumn—mixing classic seasonal hues with touches of blue and muted tones creates a sophisticated look that works beautifully on a front door or hung above an interior mantel. Wreaths are an easy, impactful way to welcome the season and set the tone for your home decor.

Blueberries are in season, and I’m eager to try a beloved recipe: Blueberry Buckle. It’s a comforting cake-like dessert that celebrates summer fruit and makes a lovely addition to autumn brunches or afternoon tea. The combination of juicy berries and tender crumb is simple to prepare and always well received by family and friends.

Baby pumpkins remain one of my favorite fall decorating tools. They’re versatile, affordable, and add instant seasonal charm to any vignette. I love arranging small pumpkins with greenery, candles, and vintage dishes for a simple yet elegant display. These little gourds work beautifully on entry tables, mantels, or as part of a centerpiece for a casual autumn dinner.
