Style Showcase: Halloween, Thanksgiving & Fall Outfits

Fall Has Finally Arrived in Central North Carolina

It’s official — autumn has arrived here in central North Carolina. After a long, record-breaking September, we’ve finally started running the heat, and the cool mornings and crisp evenings are a welcome change. The shift in weather always brings a sense of renewal: I’m enjoying pumpkin-scented candles, warmer drinks, and the slow transition to cozy layers around the house.

Putting the House Back Together

This past week has felt like an extension of the week before because I’m still in the process of putting our home back together after having the floors refinished. Refinishing floors is a transformative project, but it comes with a lot of moving, cleaning, and careful rearranging. Before the crew arrived, we moved most furniture out of the main rooms and boxed up accessories. Now that the work is done, I’m returning items to their places, smoothing out slipcovers, and deciding where each piece looks best on the refreshed floors.

The process is oddly like moving in again. You rediscover little items you forgot about, you rethink layouts that didn’t quite work before, and you get a fresh perspective on what to keep and what to donate. It’s time-consuming, but seeing the polished wood underfoot makes it all worthwhile.

A Weekend Pause to Create a Thanksgiving Tablescape

Over the weekend I took a break from unpacking and styling to create a Thanksgiving tablescape. I kept it warm and inviting — layered linens, a simple centerpiece, a few natural accents, and soft candlelight. Tablescapes don’t have to be elaborate to feel special; small details like textured napkins, mismatched vintage plates, and a low centerpiece that doesn’t block conversation can make the table feel intentional and festive.

I enjoyed the creative pause. Setting the table allowed me to play with color palettes and textures that complement the new floors, and it reminded me how much a thoughtfully arranged table can set the tone for a holiday gathering.
