I’m ready to say goodbye to cold-weather decor and welcome lighter, fresher touches throughout the house. The cedar, holly, and pine that carried us through the holidays are tucked away, and in their place I’m using softer greens and more cheerful accents to evoke spring.

Greenery appears in nearly every room of our home this season. I use a combination of live and lifelike faux plants depending on the spot and the light conditions. A small potted plant on a side table, a simple wreath on the door, or a few tucked sprigs in a centerpiece are all simple ways to bring spring indoors.

True fact: Whether real or faux, a touch of greenery brings any space to life.

Simple Greenery Decor in the Foyer

Our foyer is small, so I keep the styling simple and intentional.

Very simple—my narrow chest is the main display area. For spring I place a single boxwood orb in a favorite blue-and-white bowl. That tiny burst of green is enough to set a welcoming tone when guests step inside.

Subtle coordinating greens in the artwork and accessories help extend the spring vibe beyond the chest, making the space feel fresh without overwhelming the small entry.

A Springy Greenery Vignette in the Office

One of the doors off the foyer opens into our home office, so I like the view to feel inviting as you enter the house.

After a recent makeover, the office looks more polished, but a small vignette near the entrance remains a constant. A brass planter holds two petite potted plants, and a decorative bowl contains a mix of natural orbs and moss-covered spheres—an easy, understated nod to spring greenery.

Greenery Sprinkled Around the Living Room

The living room offers lots of opportunities to mix real and faux greenery. Layering textures and heights creates a natural, lived-in look that still reads fresh for spring.

Above the fireplace we added a simple frame to a wrapped canvas, which made a big visual impact without a large cost—an easy DIY that anchors the mantel decor. The mantel itself features a pair of blue-and-white vases filled with my favorite faux stems, chosen so some look leafy while others appear more bare, echoing early spring branches outside.

I also love the square white containers holding artificial boxwood topiaries. They’re easily moved from room to room and work in many styles, making them a versatile investment for seasonal decorating.

A recent vintage find—the aged brass urn on the hearth—holds a large boxwood orb and has become a favorite focal piece. Beside a chair, a quirky freeform plant in a wicker container adds character; it drinks a lot of water, so I keep an eye on it to stay healthy.

Foliage provides texture and fills empty spots effortlessly. I tuck a sprig into nooks and on open shelving where sunlight is limited. Even a small burst of green draws the eye and enlivens a vignette.

When the living room leaned into cottage style I used greenery on the upholstered coffee table, arranging a few artificial leafy sprigs in a bowl. I also placed a preserved boxwood wreath around a candle inside an old apothecary jar for another soft touch of green.

For easy-to-care-for live plants that tolerate lower light, I favor pothos and peace lilies. Pothos is forgiving—low light and occasional watering keep it happy. Peace lilies thrive in both bright and lower light and give a clear signal when thirsty by letting their graceful leaves droop, so they’re simple to keep healthy.

Spring Greenery in the Breakfast Nook

The breakfast nook is another spot where greenery feels natural and welcoming.

For the table centerpiece I use a live pothos in a blue-and-white porcelain container beneath the chandelier—an easy, eye-catching focal point. A faux fern sits on a pedestal in the bay window; once the last frost passes I’ll plant seasonal flowers on the deck outside so the view from the nook is colorful and inviting.

I’ve added small topiaries and additional green accents to the sideboard and the brackets that flank the plate rack to pull the whole room together. These modest touches reinforce a cohesive spring theme without feeling fussy.

Decorating with greenery is one of my favorite, low-effort ways to refresh a home for spring. A simple vase of stems, a wreath on the door, or a trailing plant on a shelf instantly lightens a space and creates an inviting, natural feel. Whether you prefer fresh clippings or realistic faux stems, adding even a small touch of green can transform a room.

Bringing the outdoors in brightens a space, enhances texture, and supports a calm, airy aesthetic perfect for the season. What are your favorite ways to add greenery to your home in spring? I’d love to hear how you refresh your rooms.
