Fall is arriving, and I love bringing a bit of the season into every corner of my home—especially the kitchen and breakfast nook.

Although the room makeover is finished and the space looks very different now, I still found fresh inspiration for decorating it for fall.
My favorite element this season was the unexpected pairing of blue and burgundy as the primary fall colors—non-traditional but warm and elegant.

This post is part of the Celebrate Home Fall Home Tours, where 23 bloggers shared a glimpse of their seasonal decor. The tour is hosted by Leen at Sand Dollar Lane, who offers wonderful coastal decorating ideas.
If you’re coming from Thistle Key Lane, welcome to Worthing Court—her understated fall living room is beautiful and cozy.
When I decorated for fall, I was beginning my chinoiserie journey. The blue-and-burgundy palette began with napkins I used to make DIY chinoiserie pumpkins.

Decoupaging pumpkins is such a fun DIY—I highly recommend trying it. You can find a step-by-step tutorial that walks through the process, and I’ve already started making more for this year.

I repeated the same color story in the living room and on the front porch so the whole house feels cohesive for fall.
My handmade pumpkins sit prominently on the sideboard beneath a new plate rack—one of my favorite display areas.

Collecting plates and small treasures to display has been a lot of fun. I debated how to style the rack for fall without going overboard and settled on a couple of pumpkin plates for a subtle seasonal nod. The rest of the pieces could stay up year-round.

The light fixture over the table was the first change I made during the room redo and it set the tone—elegant yet still cottage in feel.

I kept our original dining table but replaced the side chairs and reupholstered the end chair cushions. The bench got a new cushion too, and the pillow fabric served as the inspiration for the room’s makeover.

I’m still deciding whether the plates above my aunt’s oil painting are too much since I already have a plate display on the opposite wall—what do you think?

A remaining project is new curtains made from the same fabric as the pillow. Update: I later chose a budget-friendly ready-made option instead of making custom drapes.

On the kitchen side of the room we replaced the countertops this summer, and the change transformed the space. The Carrera marble-look quartz countertops completely updated the kitchen’s look and feel—I still admire them every day.

We also swapped the faucet and cabinet hardware from brushed nickel to polished chrome, which feels like jewelry for the kitchen.

With the new palette, the counter-height stools were reupholstered in the same fabric as the chair cushions to tie the spaces together. I decided not to repaint the stool bases after much thought.

I prefer clear counters, so decorating is simple—my blue-and-white pieces stay on display year-round and I add a few fall accents.

One favorite vignette is a trio of cutting boards topped with a boxwood wreath finished with a blue-and-white gingham bow—simple and charming.

I also love the Staffordshire-style dog salt and pepper shakers that sit on a tray on the cooktop—small details make a big difference.

A change I’d like to make next year is replacing the open microwave shelf with a cabinet to create a built-in look—too many times I’ve bumped my head on that shelf!
I swapped everyday canisters for blue-and-white ginger jars to store k-cups and tea bags—an easy way to elevate a functional area.

I’m a coffee lover and a mug snob—big mugs with comfortable handles are a must. For tea, I prefer dainty cups with matching saucers, and I’m fond of sugar bowl and creamer sets. I’ve collected Pip Studio pieces in the La Majorelle Blue pattern and have been pleased with my orders.

Thanks for taking a tour of my breakfast room and kitchen—I hope you found ideas to inspire your own fall decorating.
