When I renovate rooms, I try to reuse as many pieces as possible. Hand-painting furniture has become my favorite way to give old items a new life. DINING ROOM MAKEOVER BEFORE AND AFTER
Deciding to paint my 15-year-old dining room set felt risky at first. Would I like the result? Could I return to the original look if I didn’t? The choice came down to replace or repaint. Repainting felt like the smarter, lower-risk option—if I didn’t love it, I could still replace the set later. It turned out to be one of the best design decisions I’ve made.

This little chest in my foyer gets so many compliments. Painting it Sherwin-Williams Network Gray and updating the hardware erased its dated Queen Anne look and turned it into a warm, modern focal point for the entryway.
