My week at a glance

A few quick updates from my week: something exciting is planned for next Saturday that will change my publishing schedule — The Weekly Muse will move from Saturday to Sunday while the event is happening. I’m looking forward to the change and can’t wait to share the new rhythm with you.

On a more personal note, I’ve been dealing with a slow-moving renovation project and the challenge has been less about the delay and more about the uncertainty. The contractor I hired has done excellent work for me in the past and is a good, honest person, but the recent lack of clear communication has tested my patience and reminded me of the importance of grace and clear expectations.

If you’ve experienced something similar, you know how distracting it can be — waiting without updates leads to worry. I’m learning to set boundaries for my own stress and to ask for regular check-ins so I’m not left wondering. It’s a small practical step that helps preserve relationships and sanity during projects.

Have you started decorating for fall yet? I’ve been planning seasonal touches and sourcing pieces, but obstacles have slowed progress. Still, I’m determined to get everything in place soon because this year’s fall tour is scheduled for the 16th, and I want the home to feel warm and welcoming for visitors.

I’ll be sharing photos and ideas from the fall tour — from small vignettes to table settings — and I’ll include a printable to help you bring similar touches into your own home. Simple patterns, layered textures, and a few unexpected accents make seasonal decorating feel effortless.

On my wishlist

I love collecting pieces that are both beautiful and practical. Here are a few items I’ve been eyeing that would complement fall styling and make thoughtful gifts:

Elegant frame set — A cohesive set of frames can instantly refresh a wall gallery or make a thoughtful holiday present. Look for classic finishes that work with traditional and modern decor.

Marble side table — A small marble table brings a refined touch to a living room or entryway. Marble pairs well with warm metallics and textured fabrics, making it a versatile addition for fall and winter decor.

I’m also inspired by table settings that combine blue and white ceramics with autumn tones like burnt orange and deep rust. The contrast is unexpected and elegant, bringing seasonal warmth while retaining a classic look suitable for entertaining.

Maple cookies with maple icing — Seasonal baking is one of my favorite ways to celebrate autumn. Maple-flavored cookies topped with a maple glaze are simple to make and beautifully seasonal for gatherings or a cozy afternoon treat.

Finally, for those thinking ahead to holiday decor, I’ve been admiring tartan and plaid styling ideas. A tartan-themed home tour highlights how plaid accents — throw pillows, ribbon, and layered textiles — create a cozy, classic holiday atmosphere without overwhelming a neutral foundation.

I’ll continue to share updates as projects progress and as I finalize decor for the fall tour. If you have favorite fall decorating tips or go-to seasonal recipes, I’d love to hear them and might feature ideas from readers in a future edition of The Weekly Muse.
