Join me for this week’s edition of The Weekly Muse, where I share everything from an unexpected medical scare to the joy of finding beautiful pieces for the home. We’ll walk through the highs and lows of my week together—there were some surprising turns, plenty of gratitude, and a few delightful discoveries worth sharing.

At the start of the week I was ready to report a quiet, uneventful stretch—an ordinary week of routines and small comforts. That plan lasted until Wednesday.
Everything changed midweek.
My husband suddenly noticed an increase in eye floaters and a shift in his vision while he was sitting calmly in church. It was unexpected and alarming, and it turned our tidy week into a flurry of appointments and decisions.
By Thursday he had undergone eye surgery to repair tears in his retina. The whole experience was intense but ultimately reassuring: the procedure went very well and his recovery is progressing nicely. I’m incredibly grateful to report that he’s doing great, though I must confess I could use another vacation after that few days of emotional exhaustion.
What struck me most through the whole process was how quickly things came together. We saw the eye doctor the morning after the symptoms began, were referred to a retina specialist, and then were able to have surgery scheduled at the surgical center almost immediately. In our experience you usually wait days or weeks for that cascade of appointments, so to have everything handled so swiftly felt like a gift. I’m so thankful for the skill and speed of the medical team, and for the calm way it all unfolded—definitely a moment of gratitude.
Now that the medical whirlwind has settled, I’m excited to talk about the prettier parts of my week—home decor finds, tasty treats, and small pleasures that lift the spirit.
I never tire of seeing beautiful arrangements displayed in chinoiserie bowls. The classic shapes and patterns lend such a sense of curated elegance to even the simplest floral groupings. It’s one of those styling touches that makes a room feel considered and collected.

I also came across a washable rug that looks like a fantastic deal. Washable rugs are so practical for everyday living—especially for homes with pets or kids—and finding one that also brings color and pattern to a room felt like a small victory.
I’m always inspired by people who display the things they truly love, and this collection by LaLa Saks is a wonderful example. Her approach to eclectic styling—layering treasured objects, artwork, and textiles—reminds me that a home should reflect the owner’s personality and history.

On my reading list this week is a thoughtful book that offers encouragement and practical insights—perfect for slow evenings or quiet moments with a cup of tea. Books that refresh perspective are always welcome, and I’m looking forward to digging into this one soon.
With warm weather upon us, no-bake desserts feel especially appealing. I found a recipe for a summer berry icebox cake that looks both simple and satisfying: layers of fresh berries and creamy filling, chilled until perfectly set. It’s the kind of dessert that’s easy to assemble and perfect for sharing at a casual gathering.

And speaking of frozen treats, I finally gave in and bought a Ninja Creami after mentioning it last week. We’ve been having so much fun making small-batch ice cream at home—flavor experiments, creamy textures, and the joy of creating exactly what we want. It’s been a delightful little appliance to add to the kitchen, especially on hot afternoons.
Before I sign off, a quick personal note: I’ll be spending the weekend chasing a playful puppy and keeping my husband comfortable as he recovers—gentle tasks that feel meaningful after a week like this. Thank you for joining me in The Weekly Muse; I always appreciate your company through the everyday and the extraordinary.
Wishing you a peaceful and restorative week ahead. If you have any favorite no-bake dessert recipes or easy decor tips to share, I’d love to hear them next time.
