My Week at a Glance
• If your dog gets bored and into mischief (like a certain little scamp in my photos), I highly recommend a snuffle mat. It’s an inexpensive, low-effort way to keep curious pups happily occupied.
I tuck a few pieces of dry kibble and tiny treats into the felt folds. The search engages their nose and brain, usually keeping them interested for 30–60 minutes. Rotate the treats and change hiding spots to keep it novel, and supervise the first few sessions so your dog learns how to use it safely.
• The view outside our kitchen table is stunning right now — golden light, layered color, and the slow, quiet change of the season. My phone snaps can’t capture the depth of the scene, but I try anyway.
The trees are shedding quickly, though, and in just a couple of weeks the limbs will be bare. I’m savoring each bright leaf while it lasts.
• I finally started decorating our Christmas tree this weekend. Without the usual deadlines, I’m about three weeks later than normal — and honestly, I’m enjoying the slower pace. Taking my time, choosing ornaments thoughtfully, and savoring each step has made a typically hectic task feel peaceful. I may keep this gentler approach in future years.

I enjoy adding a few simple holiday touches to every room. Small accents bring a festive feeling without a major overhaul. Here are a few ideas that inspired me this week:
• A sweet, low-effort arrangement beside the kitchen sink can brighten daily chores. I loved this easy arrangement idea for a green-and-white kitchen accent — it’s elegant and practical for busy households.
• Classic plaid pillows are timeless for holiday style. I have a set of plaid pillow covers that are affordable and surprisingly versatile — they pair well with everything from neutral linens to blue-and-white chinoiserie. Mix textures (wool, velvet, linen) to make a cozy, layered look.
• For fresh inspiration, I enjoyed a traditional holiday home tour that adds a few unexpected touches. Small deviations from the usual palette or a creative vignette can make a classic look feel new.
• I’m drawn to interesting tabletop pieces — this scallop-edge oval tray caught my eye for its delicate detail and distinctive shape. Little, thoughtful items like this can transform a coffee table or buffet top into a curated vignette.
• On the menu: I’m always up for a new chicken recipe. The Salsa Verde Chicken Casserole looks comforting and simple — a flavorful, weeknight-friendly dish that would be great for family dinners this season.
