My Week at a Glance
Oh my goodness — what a whirlwind week it has been. I can hardly believe December is already here. The holidays seem to arrive earlier each year, and this season feels especially full of warmth, activity, and meaningful moments.
I hope you and your family enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving. Ours was wonderful: my feet are still tired, and everything aches a bit, but my heart feels very full. There’s something about the bustle of holiday cooking, laughter around the table, and the quiet moments afterward that makes the temporary chaos worth it.
On Wednesday and again early Thanksgiving morning, my daughter and granddaughters came over to help prepare most of the dishes. I truly couldn’t have done it without them. In addition to being a huge practical help, it’s a wonderful way to make memories together — chopping, stirring, tasting, and teasing one another while we work.
We may look composed in the photos, but the truth is we were four exhausted souls racing around thirty minutes before dinner was served. The kitchen table was a happy, noisy hub of last-minute plating and quick fixes — the kind of controlled chaos that somehow becomes part of the family story.
And yes — you may notice a missing cabinet door in the photo. That small repair has been on my contractor’s list since April. We’ll call it a work-in-progress and move on to more festive topics.
Sunday Scripture
December 1st marked the start of Advent this year — a season many of us observe in different ways, each meaningful in its own tradition. For Christians, Advent is a time of quiet anticipation and reflection as we look forward to celebrating the arrival of Christ and, with hope, His promised return.
The theme for the first week of Advent is HOPE — a gentle reminder to anchor our hearts in the promises that sustain us. The Psalm below is especially comforting during this season:
“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope.” — Psalm 130:5 (ESV)

As I move into full holiday mode, I’m seeing so many lovely decorating ideas that are simple to recreate and make a real impact at home. Here are a few things that stood out to me this week — small details and pretty touches perfect for this time of year.
My friend Amy decorated a charming Chinoiserie-style Christmas tree for her dining room. I love the elegance of the ornaments and the unexpected touch of a vintage brass container used as a planter — a detail that gives the vignette warmth and personality.
Small accents can make a big difference. Preserved boxwood wreaths trimmed with dusty blue velvet bows are on my mind this year — classic, soft, and versatile. They feel fresh but still timeless, and they pair beautifully with both modern and traditional decor palettes.
I’m also loving creative place setting ideas for holiday tables. A thoughtfully arranged table setting sets the tone for an evening and is an easy way to show guests you care. Layered textures, a personal name card, and a small sprig of greenery can elevate a simple dinner into something memorable.
This gold antelope-print gift wrap caught my eye — a playful yet chic print that would coordinate with many color schemes. It reminded me of a rug in my living room and inspired me to think about mixing unexpected patterns during the holidays.
For entertaining, a Christmas tree-shaped charcuterie board is an eye-catching appetizer idea. Simple to assemble yet striking on the table, it would be a fun addition when friends and family gather — and a great conversation starter.
