Welcome to The Weekly Muse — a behind-the-scenes look at what I’ve been up to, the little things that inspired me this week, and a few favorites I think you’ll enjoy as well.

My week at a glance
We’ve had a touch of early fall here in central North Carolina, and I’m honestly delighted. Cooler mornings and evenings have finally arrived, which means more time outside without swatting mosquitoes or wrestling with pesky no-see-ums. That alone has made the week feel refreshingly different.
After talking about painting pumpkins for weeks, I finally gathered supplies and began. My daughter and granddaughters joined me for a relaxed afternoon of painting — a simple, joyful way to ease into the season. Their pumpkins turned out absolutely adorable; mine needs a little more tweaking, but I enjoyed the process and the company more than the finished piece. It’s the kind of creative play that makes fall feel cozy and intentional.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned planning a fall home tour for this week. Life had other ideas. I spent several days helping with a church banquet, preparing tablescapes and floral touches. Everything came together beautifully and the event was a lovely evening, but the work was more intense than I expected and left me needing a short recovery. So the fall tour will have to wait — I hope to share it with you next week when I’m feeling more rested and the display is perfected.

Even with the delay, I’m excited about the ideas I’m refining for fall decor. My focus is on timeless textures — warm metals, soft neutrals, and a mix of natural elements that feel elegant without being fussy. Little touches like painted pumpkins, layered textiles, and gathered greenery can transform a room quickly and affordably.
Sunday Scripture
Perseverance has been on my mind lately as I watch students and young people tackle heavy workloads and long study hours. It’s a season that tests patience and stamina, and it reminded me to slow down and encourage rather than rush.
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9, ESV
That verse feels like a quiet prompt to keep showing up — whether we’re helping a child through homework, finishing a home project, or serving our community. The results often arrive in their own time, but steady effort and kindness matter.
Inspiring Me
I’ve been gathering sources of inspiration for fall decor and simple entertaining. A few standouts this week include a beautifully styled fall home tour that captures a classic, cozy aesthetic — the sort of timeless seasonal decor that emphasizes texture, neutral color palettes, and layered comfort. That kind of tour is full of ideas that translate well into everyday living.

I’m also loving creative painted pumpkins this season. Soft colors and simple patterns can make pumpkins feel fresh and modern — a cheerful way to add personality to mantels, tabletops, or a front porch vignette.

A wooden pedestal bowl with beaded detail caught my eye as a versatile centerpiece for kitchens or dining areas. Natural wood tones paired with seasonal fruit, small pumpkins, or dried botanicals feel warm and inviting without overdoing the theme.

On the practical side, a sleek crossbody bag in an autumnal hue is both stylish and functional for running errands or attending fall gatherings. It’s the kind of accessory that elevates simple outfits while staying comfortable for everyday wear.

And for dinners this week, I’m eager to try a creamy baked fajita chicken casserole — an easy, flavorful dish that seems perfect for busy weeknights. One-pan or one-dish meals like this are ideal for evenings when you want comfort food without the fuss.

Thanks for stopping by The Weekly Muse. I’ll be back next week with a proper fall tour — until then, enjoy the slower moments, creative projects, and simple comforts of the season.
