Foyer makeover update
The week between the holidays often feels quiet, a good time to tackle projects that have been on the to-do list. I finally started work on our foyer makeover, beginning with removing the gallery wall that hung in the stairwell so we could add board and batten. The plan was straightforward, but along the way I misjudged how high to run the board and batten and ended up needing to remove a section and redo part of the installation. It was frustrating in the moment, but the demolition went more smoothly than expected and we’ve been able to reinstall the boards and repair the sheetrock where it was damaged.
I’ve been sharing progress and the lessons learned over on my Instagram stories for anyone who wants a behind-the-scenes look at the process. Small setbacks are normal with home projects, and this one has been a good reminder to measure twice, cut once—and to embrace the imperfect parts of making a home your own.
