Fresh and Easy Spring Decorations You Can Recreate at Home

As winter winds down and we welcome warmer days, it’s the perfect time to refresh your home with simple spring decorations. A few well-placed accents can lift the mood of a room and bring a cleaner, brighter feel without a complete overhaul. This spring, I leaned into a green-and-white palette that feels natural and crisp—perfect for drawing the outdoors in while the trees are still waking up.

Green and white are an ideal spring color pairing. Green evokes freshness and life; white keeps the overall look bright and airy. Together they make a space feel calm, clean, and welcoming. You can easily adapt this approach to any room—think open shelves, a sideboard, or your dining room hutch.

For the breakfast room pictured here, most of the decorations came from kitchen cabinets and a few items from my decor stash. Only two purchases were necessary. The result is an effortless, cohesive spring vignette that feels collected rather than staged.

Tips for styling open shelves for spring:
- Mix white ceramics—pitchers, bowls, and urns—with a few green accents like boxwood or faux topiaries. White pieces act as a neutral backdrop that lets greenery pop.
- Group dishes by shape and color. Stacked plates, a single large platter, and a wooden box or toolbox add layers of interest without clutter.
- Use containers and trays to anchor smaller items. A shallow tray or wood box keeps everything visually connected.
- Keep negative space. A few well-placed pieces look fresher than crowded shelves.

If you’re starting with all-white dishes, add a single accent color—green works beautifully for spring, but pastels or soft blues are also lovely. If your dishes are patterned, pull one color from the pattern and use it consistently for your decor accents to keep the look cohesive.
To tie the open shelves into the rest of the room, I created a quick centerpiece for the table that echoes the same materials and colors.

How to create a simple spring centerpiece:
- Choose a container—an urn, pitcher, or shallow basket works well.
- Fill it with snips of faux greenery or fresh stems if available.
- Add a pair of white candlesticks or small pottery pieces for height variation.
- Place everything in a tray or basket that complements your table shape to keep the arrangement grounded.
With just a few snips of faux boxwood, a white urn, and two candlesticks, you can assemble a centerpiece in about five minutes that reinforces the room’s spring vibe.

Looking at the full dining room scene, the overall effect is fresh, clean, and simple—exactly what spring decorating should feel like. A few coordinated accents and an uncluttered approach let the space breathe while adding seasonal cheer.
