Worthing Court’s Christmas Foyer: Bright, Festive, and Ready to Welcome Guests
I’m delighted to share our cheerful Christmas foyer for this year’s Home For The Holidays tour, organized by Jenna at Wife In Progress. This foyer sets the tone for the rest of our home — bright, bold Christmas red woven throughout every room. It’s warm, welcoming, and ready for friends and family to step right in.
The first thing guests see is a big “WELCOME” sign that establishes the festive mood. A slim, skinny tree fits perfectly in the corner near a treasured vintage family heirloom chair, and a few wrapped gifts sit on the small chest for a cozy, lived-in vignette.
A silk-ribbon-woven garland draws your eye up to the arched mirror and a wooden horse that wears a coordinating ribbon around its neck. You may notice some empty frames climbing the staircase — those are part of our ongoing foyer makeover. The makeover paused when we bought our beach condo, which required a lot of attention for several months.
Functionality was a big consideration in the foyer design. This area funnels traffic to the family room, our office, and the stairway, and it includes a coat closet. Those multiple openings made layout choices a bit tricky. The corner near the staircase was an obvious spot for the tree and chair, but the large plain wall leading into the office needed more character.
Adding a board-and-batten wall and matching DIY benches transformed that entrance into a favorite seasonal spot. It now serves as a flexible backdrop for holiday vignettes and makes the whole foyer feel intentional rather than pieced together.
The row of hooks on the wall was originally intended as overflow for guests’ coats when the closet fills up. In reality, those hooks usually hold seasonal accents — garlands, signs, and other decorative items — which keeps the space festive year-round.
From the front door you can glimpse the family room — the foyer’s decor intentionally leads the eye inward, creating a cohesive holiday flow from entry to living space. I’ll be sharing a closer look at the family room tree and more holiday details in a follow-up post, so be sure to check back.
