My Week at a Glance

Christmas arrived and then seemed to disappear in an instant — so quickly that I didn’t have a chance to post last week. The past days have been a blur of wrapping up preparations, making space for guests, and savoring the warmth that fills the house when family gathers.

Most of the week was dedicated to getting ready for our family Christmas party, which we hosted at home on Saturday. Between arranging seating, finishing food prep, and making sure little details were in place, the days felt full but joyful. Hosting always involves a mix of planning and spontaneity, and this year was no different.

Those gatherings are among my favorite moments each year: long conversations, shared laughter, good food, and the relaxed chaos of gift exchanges. I love seeing corners of the home come alive with conversation and memory-making. For anyone else who hosts, a few simple touches — thoughtful lighting, a comfortable spot for coats, and easy-to-access drink stations — can make everything feel effortless and welcoming.

And, of course, our family photos include a few of those candid snapshots that reveal who still needs a lesson in how to pose for the camera. Those imperfect, genuine expressions are the ones I treasure most.

Although I missed posting last week, I want to highlight the theme for the fourth and final week of Advent: JOY. As the holiday season winds down, it’s a fitting moment to pause and reflect on the deep, lasting joy that faith brings.

This season invites us to remember the gift of salvation and the peace that comes from grace. Even in times when life feels uncertain or resources seem scarce, the call to rejoice is a steady, comforting reminder.

“Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:17-19, ESV
