STOPPED ME IN MY SCROLL
Recently I came across an absolutely stunning photograph on the Instagram feed of Suraj Gowda that made me pause. Suraj’s work as a nature photographer captures colors and compositions that feel almost otherworldly, and this particular image stopped me in my tracks.
Even though this blog focuses on home decor, nature photography frequently provides powerful design cues. The jewel-toned blues, greens, and muted earth tones in that picture could easily become the color story for an entire room. I love to remind myself that inspiration isn’t limited to showrooms or catalogues — it’s everywhere, from the garden to a favorite photograph.

OUTFIT INSPIRATION
On the fashion front, I’m loving a peplum-lined chiffon top I recently spotted. The cut feels feminine and the vibrant hues are exactly the kind of accent I enjoy wearing when I want an outfit to feel cheerful and put-together without trying too hard.

It’s been selling quickly, which isn’t surprising — the chiffon is light and airy, perfect for warm weather. I like that the silhouette offers options: you can wear it loose for an easy, breezy look, tie it at the front for a little shape, or add a belt to define the waist.

Accessories are the finishing touch. I picked up a brand-new necklace for just $5 at a local Goodwill — a little treasure hunt that paid off — and I’m also excited about lightweight rattan earrings that come in several colors. They’re playful, comfortable to wear, and a nice counterpoint to a soft chiffon top.

WHAT I’M WATCHING OR READING
Finding something new to watch has been a bit of a challenge lately, so we’ve been dipping into older shows and movies we enjoyed in the past. Nostalgia can be comforting, but not every classic stands the test of time — for example, Miami Vice feels very of its era and doesn’t always hold up to modern tastes.
One reliable fallback for us is older episodes of Law & Order. The structure and storytelling of many earlier episodes still work well, even if reboots and new seasons don’t always capture the same tone. I’m open to recommendations, especially for smart mysteries, character-driven dramas, or feel-good series that are easy to dip in and out of. If you have favorites, I’d love to hear them.
RECENT PURCHASE I LOVE
I’ve been gradually adding blue-and-white accents throughout the house, and a recent pillow cover purchase is one of my favorite small updates. The floral pattern is large-scale enough to make a statement, and I paired it with striped pillows to add contrast and graphic interest.

These covers are an affordable way to refresh a room — the one I bought is 20×20 and cost around $14. Swapping pillow covers is one of the easiest ways to change a room’s mood without a big investment, and blue and white is a timeless combination that works in living rooms, bedrooms, and home offices alike.

RANDOMNESS
The weather here in North Carolina has been unusually cool for the season, which is pleasant but a little disappointing because our screen porch is covered in yellow pollen. It’s frustrating to be so close to enjoying the space and have to wait until the pollen eases and I can hose everything down and clean the cushions.
THE CURRENT STATE OF MY SCREEN PORCH… UGH

Despite the pollen, spring is offering beautiful days and plenty of creative inspiration. Between a photograph that sparks a new color palette, a wearable summer top, and a few small decor purchases, I’m enjoying the process of mixing fresh ideas into everyday life. If you tried anything new this week — a decor tweak, a style find, or a great show — tell me about it. I’m always collecting ideas.
